Edric marches into the Great Hall full of confidence after his victory in the melee just days before.
He has had but one dream since beginning his training in Winterfell under Lord Brandon. Become a member of the Kingsguard. His confidence boosted, he chose now as the time to make his intentions known to the King.
Edric sees no other courtier speaking with the King. Just Ser Podrick babbling on about his future wife in the crowd.
He approaches King Daeron and kneels.
"Your Grace, may the love of the Seven shine upon you. I have come to your court, not to make a request, but to inform you of my intentions regarding a decision that I imagine is weighing on your mind."

"Well, your Grace, it is known that the Kingsguard lack 2 knights in their ranks. It is also known that many of the White Cloaks have been sent out around the realm on the crown's business. Leaving only the Lord Commander and one other to defend you and your kin here in Kings Landing.
It is this decision that I wish to press upon you. Since I held my first blade, your Grace, I have wanted nothing more than to serve in the ranks of the Kingsguard. Hearing tales of their heroics across the realm, I want the chance to prove I am one of the best. I would like to officially announce to you, your Grace, my wish to become a protector of the Iron Throne, a member of the Kingsguard."
He bows, awaiting the Kings response.

"Your offer is noted but you were just listed as master of arms for the gold cloaks....you put your name for promotion when you haven't even served Kings Landing for not even a Month?" He asks.

"Your Grace's concern is duly noted. However, I also understand that this decision is no easy one for you, your Grace. I come not seeking immediate promotion. Only to give my name to your consideration. My feats stand on their own merit, regardless of time served with the Gold Cloaks. I helped push the red priests out of the North, I have brought a new form of combat to Westeros of my own accord in the form of my blades, and I have proven myself a stronger warrior than all in the city who dared join the lists in the tourney melee. I will rise to whichever challenge your Grace sees fit to ask me. I only wish to be clad in white."
Edric bows his head again.

Ser Hendry Baratheon waited in the Great Hall hoping to catch sight of and speak with, his uncle Ser Hector Baratheon, newly promoted to the Kingsguard. Hector was his youngest uncle, only a few years older than himself.

While it was not Ser Hector he did see a very large man wearing a purple cloak with the crest of two crossed warhammars.
The man nods at Ser Hendry, "You be a Baratheon there boy?"
