The Maester sighs knowing Lord Stark is away, he is hoping that the Lord was at the Eyrie and goes to prepare rooms.

Lorraine had to ask many servants along the way, but eventually she made her way to the Maester's Turret. She could feel their eyes on her, their curiosity about this young woman from the south. She ignored them. They would get used to each other soon enough.
She ascended the stairs and knocked on the door.

An elderly voice came though, "Come in, please."

Lorraine opened the door carefully. The hinges squeaked.

The Elderly man smiles. "Hello my dear, what may I do for your today?" He asked. "Are you feeling well?"

"Well enough," she said, turning a bit pink. She ran her fingertip over the tooled leather cover of a nearby tome. "Lord Stark...he put Winterfell under my stewardship." She looked at the maester carefully. "I confess I haven't the first idea of where to begin."

He looks her over. "And do you want to run Winterfell?" He asked her with one of those adorable elderly smiles.

He was challenging her. She was certain of it. "It isn't that I wouldn't like to oversee my future husband's stronghold, it is only that I am unsure of being able to care for the place properly. And I had to ask directions of six different people to find my way here, but that is another matter."

"My Lady....If my Lord Stark has placed you the survival of the stronghold then he trusts in you that he believes you will do what is right."
He taps his chin.
"However, you will oversee Lord Rickard as he preforms Court, he acts as Lord of Winterfell in Lord Wilhelms stead."

She smiled at that. "Rickard is in the library, showing his favorite books to the princess."
"What can you tell me of what happened here? Why has so much of Winterfell been burned and ruined?" She thought of how Stark had reached into the empty case in his chambers, of the disappointment and anger on his face when he realized that whatever it had held was no longer there.

"I see...well you have herd of the Red War?" He says sitting back. "Winterfell was one of the first to be attacked and Wilhelm lost many in that war that some say turned him as cold as ice itself."
He opens a book. "In the beginning, Winterfell burned, and the fire raged and make the rocks with week supports crumble." He sighs. "Wilhelms father was caught in the Godswood. Wilhelm rushed to aid his father, he was avised not to enter the embers and the flames were too high he himself would have been harmed. However shortly after he returned from the flames, unburnt by them. His father had, unforgettably had passed and Wilhelm was Lord of Winterfell."

"Of course I know of the war," she scoffed. "I spent those years in Riverrun, the war was fought outside my window."
To the rest, she listened carefully. "I never knew," she said quietly when he was done. She could hardly think of Wilhelm as cold, but of course it must have been very hard for him. It struck her how little she knew of him, then. "And of course it takes far longer to build up than to tear down..." The War had hurt everyone alike; such was the way of things. "What shall I do first, then?"

"That will be for you to decide, if someone requires aid, feel free to do as you wish, you are placed as Steward." He said with a smile.

"You give me little to work with, Maester!" Lorraine complained lightly.
"But if it were entirely up to me, I would learn more of those who live here and of the north in general." She looked pensive, thinking of her Lord's family and the other members of his household.
