Well the war officially started in 362, so it has to be somewhere between then and 371. PM Other for a definitive?
edit: oh I know Dawn isn't passed down like, say, Heartsbane. But if you are the only Dayne left or relative of a Dayne left, you are kind of by default the best knight eligible for it

My father is. And he's only like 51. Still has plenty of life left in him ...or does he

That would be most welcome! Though, I must first acquire my super-horse (because apparently a dragon-horse is OP) As for hunting accidents, well, they have been known to happen

Oh dear lord Podrick "Go then, Ser Arthur, but don't kill him... take him to my Manse, I'll meet you there later... Take some of your men with you..." At the moment Pod saw Ser Arthur getting his sword, he knew it was the right moment.... "GUARDS! GUARDS! Ser Arthur is drunk and has brought a sword into the Great Sept, he means to profane this hole place!" "First I have to find him. If you see Reed, send to Hightower Manse." Arthur left the wedding, feigning a need of air. Worst timing ever. edit: meant to put this in quotebook... woops
