Step Six - Background, whats his/her story?
Euron grew up on Old Wyk as Lord Drumm's favourite grandson and second son of the Lord's heir. He learned to swim shortly after he learned to walk and spent his earliest years playing with his siblings. His grandfather's partiality towards him prompted the old man to arrange the best possible training for Euron. He began to sail with his grandfather upon his ship the Bloodbath from the age of six, accompanied by his tutor, a battle-hardened warrior named Dagon Saltcliffe, who taught him to fight with sword and fists. He admired Dagon almost as much as his fierce grandfather and longed to grow up as fearless and skilled as the two.
When Euron was ten, his grandfather insisted he spend a year at Harlaw, learning to read in the library built up by a former Lord Harlaw. He hated being on land for more than a fortnight at a time and kept sneaking off. No punishment quelled his spirits and Lord Harlaw sent Euron back to his grandsire where he continued to sail upon the Iron Price most of the time. His writing level is therefore pretty basic.
Euron was fourteen when he killed his first man and took his first woman the same night. His career as a reaver thus began in earnest and he became one of his grandsire's most trusted men, despite his youth. Three years later, he was caught abed with the salt wife of a Botley captain, a man twelve years his senior. Euron killed the Botley and took the woman for his salt wife. She remains with him still, the senior of his salt wives.
Two years later, the ailing Lord Drumm gifted Euron a ship of his own after a successful raid upon a ship from the Summer Isles. Euron named his new vessel the Blood Hand, much to the disgust of his eldest brother, who lacked Euron's strength and courage and had neither captured nor been given a ship of his own. but his grandsire died less than a year later. Euron's father granted the Iron Price to his son Vickon, now heir to the Drumm lands. But there was bad blood between Euron and Vickon and the two could not stand to be in the same room together. If one entered a feast hall when the other was present, he would walk out again. Only respect for his grandsire kept Euron from shaming his brother by challenging him to the finger dance. So life continued for several years. Euron was the boldest of the Drumms, the most skilled, so as time passed he became richer and took a girl from the Summer Isles for his second salt wife.
And then everything changed in 364. Euron was at home on Old Wyk when Vickon brought home a salt wife, the most beautiful girl Euron had ever seen. He determined to have her for himself, so one night he crept into her chamber and lay with her. The girl was not unwilling but Vickon caught them abed and the brothers began to fight. Euron seized his brother's axe and cut off several of Vickon's fingers, then cut him in other places before, eventually, cutting his throat and hacking out his heart, which he tossed to the castle dogs. The girl became Vickon's third salt wife. Euron thus became heir to the Drumm lands. Fortunately his father was raiding along the Stepstones at the time and so Euron claimed Vickon had been murdered by a rival captain of House Codd, and the Drumms jointly captured and killed Codd before leaving his corpse to rot in a cage.
A little later, the Ironborn went to war with the Red Priests. Euron took part in the war, mostly for the joy of battle but also for the riches he could claim. His father was, however, slain by a Red Priest, and Euron has vowed vengeance, not for his father's sake, but for House Drumm and for his late grandsire. He is now the wielder of the Valyrian Steel sword Red Rain (if that's ok).
Step Seven - Appearance, what does he/she look like?
Euron is tall and wiry with long arms and legs. He has a thin face and lips, a long nose and cruel grey-green eyes. His body is marked with a myriad of scars, the most noticeable running from his hairline to his chin on the left side of his face. He is not handsome but has an arresting quality that makes women look twice at him. His hair is medium brown and cut just below his ears. He dresses mostly in muted colours, or blood red. The only jewellry he ever wears is a silver disk engraved with the hand of House Drumm, hung on a silver necklace taken in his first battle. He always carries the sword Red Rain at his side, a table dagger and two axes for throwing or finger dancing.
Step Eight - Reputation, how is he/her known? As a fierce and dangerous warrior, respected, loved and feared by his men and feared by his enemies
