With the growing retaliation of the Faith and Crown against him, Trajan knows it will only be a matter of time before the headquarters of the Heretic Brotherhood is discovered. He has decided to fortify the fallen monastery as best he can, creating a true sanctuary for the sacrilege.

Trajan walked the walls of his monastery with a few of his trusted officers, scrutinizing his hideout's defenses. There was much to do and little time to do it.
The wall needed to be heightened and thickened to make it a curtain wall, the sept had to be fortified into a proper keep, at least four flanking towers had to be erected, battlements had to be carved into the walls, ramparts or a moat had to be dug with a drawbridge for access, and a porticullis had to be forged to be placed in front of the current gate's heavy wooden doors. Arrow loops, murder holes, and machicolations would also have to be introduced.
He related this information to his officers, pointing out where each addition would be. Most of his men were veterans of the war and understood siegecraft.
"How long?" he asked eventually, knowing time was short. "Taking into account Silas' promise of recruits, how much can we accomplish before a force arrives?"

"We can get simple wooden baracades up quickly, anything other then that will take time." The officer looked to him. "We do not have enough stone to work with however we have wood to the eyes."
