The Grand Library is large, musty, and full of books. Not many people take the time and effort to find anything down there, so it is relatively empty.

Gerold threw open the door. It had taken quite a bit of effort just to get the location of this place, apparently nobody went down there. He hoped the information there would be worth the pain. He threw off his cloak and immediately got to work, scouring the shelves for books about The Red Keep, and it's construction. Thankfully, he had plenty of time.

(Research Roll: 120 Pass) Aegon first set foot on Westeros in the area of King's Landing at the start of his War of Conquest. On the highest of the three hills of the area, named Aegon's Hill, he built his first fort of earth and wood. After the completion of the Conquest, Aegon ordered the construction of a permanent royal castle on the hill. The construction was completed during the reign of Maegor I, who killed all those who worked on the castle to preserve its secrets. No mentions of said secrets or any other hidden rooms within the tomes, the Targies were good to cover their tracks.

Secrets. Hmm. That would likely be referring to the tunnels surrounding the keep.
Gerold took a deep breath. It had been dawn when he started, and now it was early afternoon. He hadn't studied this long or hard since his days at the citadel. After a couple bites of a wrapped pastry from breakfast, and a scribbled note in his journal, he cracked his knuckles went back to work.
The builders, and any who worked on the castle were killed, and the secret preserved, but, then again, Gerold was a master at uncovering secrets. Where to start? Perhaps records of King's Hands, or Lord Commanders. There might be mentions of tunnels. It would take time, and effort, but Gerold was determined to set foot in Maegor's hidden passages.

(Research Roll: 96 Fail) Some are known that Maegor had some installed encase of a quick escape.

A quick escape. Looking near the outskirts or the Blackwater Rush would likely prove useless. The exit was almost definitely hidden from the outside with excellent prowess, and he couldn't just go knocking down walls all over the keep looking for an entrance. He pondered for a solution.
He came to the realization that there was no easy solution. He would just have to rely on his skills at research to search for indirect, obscure things, put them together, and analyze them. Despite his prowess, though, this process still took much time. He would continue on the morrow. He picked up his things, carefully put back the tomes he had taken, and left, closing the door behind him.
