Captions in Google Meet
From now on, Google Meet, a meeting and video calling tool, automatically provides subtitles in Portuguese and other languages, which until then were only in English. This new feature is a big step towards accessibility for online meetings, as it will help people who are deaf or who are unable to hear and follow, whether due to a computer failure, headphones, or what is being said at the moment.
New Design in Google Meet
Google Meet has even undergone updates to the layout! With the new configuration, which will gradually be updated for everyone, it is possible to view a greater number of participants at the same time on the screen. Furthermore, the tool allows you to pin more than one window at a time, which is very important for deaf people, who can now highlight the speaker and the sign language interpreter on the same screen.
Accessible Audio
These are the new Android system solutions to make communication accessible for deaf and hard of hearing people.
Live caption
The feature transforms calls, social media audio and video recordings into live subtitles, making speeches accessible to people who depend on following the content through reading.
Live Transcribe & Sound Notification
The functionality allows people who are deaf or hard of hearing to understand conversations and sounds around them. Furthermore, “sound notifications” are now translated into text messages, vibrations or light signals, in cases of critical alerts, such as a fire alarm, for example.
Sound Amplifier
This solution was created to amplify the sounds of cell phones and the real world, to be used mainly by people who are in the process of hearing loss. They will be able to connect bluetooth headphones to the tool and reduce the sounds around them that are not of interest to them and increase the sound you want to focus on.
