Can our character(s) die? If they do, what do we do?

Yes characters can die, like if you get knocked off a ship in full plate armor. Maybe you'll wash ashore, but chances are you'll drown. If that happens, you can create a new character, or play as your second character if you made one.
We can cross that bridge when we come to it, people don't tend to die until the game is really underway. I've only seen people die due to several stupid decisions in a row, though.
There will be rules posted in the fight thread later, but in a fight, you will be warned if you sustain a wound or injury, allowing you to choose whether to yield, flee, keep fighting
