A small yet sturdy notebook with a hardened leather cover. A wolf and a lizard-lion dancing on the front cover. Beneath the emblem it reads "The thoughts and musings of Ser Edric Reed, The Wolf of the Marsh".

An eventful day. More so than I would have hoped for.
The wedding was a disaster with two knights showing that the title truely means nothing. Ser Hightower best clear his mind or the city will eat him alive. Not to mention Ser Podrick... Gods! His choice to disrupt the ceremony with wild accusations seemed, well, insane. Both men clearly have an alcohol problem.
Worst yet, all of their shenanigans seem to be centred around one mysterious guard at the wedding. Why they were suspicious I have no idea. But they weren't wrong. When I approached the man after the nobles had left the Sept he seemed normal enough. However, given that all of this commotion was centred around him I wanted to make sure the Captain knew about this. I tried to take the young man to see the Captain but on the way he sprang his escape, killing one of my men and disappearing into the crowd. Wherever he is now, only the Gods know. And I know that this was my failure. I need to redeem myself.
I will be sad to see Wilhelm leave the city. There is a serious lack of Northern brothers who take up residence here. I will have to make friends with some of the southern lords and sers. Not all are so bad though. Ser Cedric appears to be a noble man. At the feast I over heard him speaking with the young Tyrell boy. He clearly carries much love for him and his family. I will have to seek him out.
Not all news was bad however. After speaking with the King at the feast he granted me a manse in the city. Thank the Gods! Living in these particularly small guard quarters would have driven me mad. Tomorrow I shall settle into my new home.
My focus needs to be on the tourney now. That is my best chance at redemption for the chaos that was this day. Wilhelm has appointed me as the representative of the north during the joust. My melee skills are still in top-form with the constant training I give to the Gold Cloaks. I hope to take at least one of the championships.
For now, sleep. Rest. Clear my mind. Tomorrow is a new day.

Today was a better day.
Training with the guards went well. They seem to be improving much faster than I had previously expected. Furthermore, they almost seem to be enjoying their instruction. With morale on the rise, I suspect the Gold Cloaks may be undergoing some much needed changes.
Excitement at the tournament grounds today!
It all started with the Dornish princess making an unexpected appearance. And by unexpected I suppose I mean... shocking. The princess has somehow managed to pack on some weight over night. I can only assume that she has consumed a mate post-coitus given the woman's reputation.
However, this of course attracted the attention of Ser Arthur and Ser Podrick. Two knights who should never be places in the same room, or continent for that matter. After Pod insulted the princess, she slapped him, well deserved. However, Ser Arthur decided to intervene for a reason that surely only the Gods know. Wilhelm caught eye of it and decided to make an example of the Hightower knight. Humiliated for the second day in a row. I pity Ser Arthur, his intentions seem to be good, but his actions betray him.
After that commotion settled Ser Podrick challenged Ser Cedric to a sparring match. Encouraged by the initiative of the knight Ser Arthur challenged myself. I supposed he was hoping for some kind of redemption after the kerfuffle with Lord Stark and Princess Lavinia. I obliged. Unsurprisingly the knight decided to rush right towards me, cocksure as ever, so he was made short work of.
It felt good to win a match, no matter the circumstance. It has been too long since I've faced real warriors. The guards provide little challenge.
After joining the lists for the joust and the melee I decided to leave and prepare. I caught sight of Princess Aelinor on my way out. My she is beautiful. I can see why Ser Arthur has such an interest in her. Perhaps I will ask for her favour in the tourney.
No matter, I must focus on the fight now. Time for some wine and a refresher from the book Maester Garrold gave me.
