The Hand had been bringing a fork laden with berry pie to his mouth. Upon hearing the words "Ice" and "stole" in the same sentence, the fork fell from his hand and clattered on his plate.
His voice raised, enough for some of the others on the dais to look his way, he replied, "Stolen? An ancestral sword that has dated back to the Doom of Valyria has been stolen?"
Checking his voice, Richard continued, "I hope that you find these bandits, nephew. And I hope they are dealt with... sufficiently. The King will be holding an audience tomorrow, perhaps he may be able to lend some assistance to your search."

"I will hunt them, and I will show them what it means to scorn a Direwolf, as I have done before. I will not show mercy to the ones who disrespect our family." He says in a low growl. "He looks to Ser Podrick still with a look of anger on his face. "I will be returning, yes but I must stop by the Vale to visit Jeremy Arryn, his daughter and I...." His face goes soft for a moment then hardens again. "We were close. I wish to see him off before his time has come."

"I'm sure you do, Harold. I confess, sometimes I miss it too, it was a magnificent place."
More happily, he continued, "Good! I am glad to hear you are happy here. You know, I just had an idea, something that boys your age usually experience. I will be riding in the Princess' tourney in a week, but I did not bring a squire with me from Horn Hill. I will need some help donning my armor and I'll need someone to hand me my lance. If the King gives his leave, would you like to help me?"

The Hand relaxes a little, and picks up his fork once again. "Good, Lord Stark, good. I trust those men will get their comeuppance. As for an excursion to the Vale, I must recommend that you do not dote for too long in the Eyrie. Every day is a chance for those bastards to put more distance between themselves and the wrath of the North."
Softer, he added, "But I understand why you want to visit the Vale. Give Lord Arryn's son my best, and that I am truly sorry to hear about his family."

He looks to Arthur and to Podrick. "If you wish it to come to the North with me that is your wish. However I must warn you Winterfell is in a state of repair and may not hold accommodations as well as before." He nods to his uncle. "I Will not, I only wish to give Jeremy a final farewell....and you know I must visit the grave site." In truth that was more a reason to go to Wilhelm then seeing his old friend pass on, Richard Knew that too probably.

Arthur smiled, "I trust we are staying for the tourney? It would be a slight if the Lord of Winterfell were not there."

"I hope I am not interrupting. Lord Hand Richard, it has been a while. Last I saw you I must have still been squiring for old Ser Aemon, before the war. I hope you are well."

"Of course, of course." Richard knew there was more to it, but he only allowed a brief silence to acknowledge the delicate matter.
"One thing though nephew. When you find these robbers, send me a letter at once. I do not care how you handle them, but I fear I will be in a state of worry until I hear of your success."
Turning to the Crannogman, Richard immediately recognized him. 'Ah yes, Edric. Or, I suppose, Ser Edric now." The Hand flashed a quick smile. "I trust you have been well these past years?"
