Brynden is startled from his rest to see the arrow, and stands up with his sword drawn looking out for whoever shot in his direction. He then turned looking into the forest behind him.

A few band of men leap down and look to the man. "Hello Son...I hear there are bandits on the road it is unsafe for people to be walking the roads alone."

He looks at them, his sword still up. Brynden scowled,"Yeah I heard that."
"I guess I'm lucky that you found me then, huh? Forgive me, if I don't seem too trusting."

"Why is that, we are all friendly here. Tell me, who do you pray for? Did you wish for their safety?" They grin.

"Friendly? What friendly person shoots arrows at another?" He slowly sheathed his sword,"And I pray to no Gods, my safety is my own responsibility."

Brynden smirked,"Freedom to do as I please, fine wine to drink and an occasional good looking whore to sit on my face."
He looked at the men,"Is that too much to ask for?"

Brynden smiled,"As long as I get coin", shaking his head,"What other way is there?"
"I watched my father slave away in the smitthy for years. He barely had enough coin to feed us half the time and that dear lads was supposed to have been honest coin."
Smirking,"So yeah, I'm in..."

Aymery rode sullenly behind his master, glancing up at him now and then. He had been getting on quite well with Jory, he thought, and would have liked to sing as he had promised, and to feast, and to make eyes at girls. But the Roseroad was calling Hightower's name, it seemed. "So what do you need to talk to your father about that's so important? I wanted to stay for just a little more."

"You'll learn when we arrive." Hightower kept it short and focused on the sprawling road in front of him.

"So damn cryptic," Aymery muttered under his breath. "How far is it, then?" All the way to the sea, he thought. Days and days and days.
